Online Chair Yoga for senior citizens (8 Days Workshop)
Chair Yoga is an excellent alternative for elderly adults and for those who have limited mobility due to health issues. It is performed either sitting in the chair or standing with the support of the chair. In chair Yoga, the asanas are modified in a way to be able to practice sitting down in a chair. Chair Yoga is considered as a safe way to exercise, especially in people with balance and strength issues. It helps to provide health benefits by improving balance, lower limb strength, stress relief, confidence and vitality.
During our 8-day workshop, along with chairs, we use different props such as towels, socks, cloth band, pillow and spoons. We not only focus on Yoga asanas, but also incorporate other simple exercises to improve muscle-joint strength, coordination and balance.
Topics covered during this workshop are
- Pawanmukta asana (micro exercises/sukshma kriya)- Rheumatoid series for joints
- Upper limb strengthening exercises and asanas
- Lower limb strengthening exercises and asanas
- Balance and eye exercises
- Full body Chair Yoga Asanas
